Dirang

Is the ideal gateway to the West Kameng district with beautiful valley surrounded by apple orchards and sheep breeding farms. The place is famous for hot water springs where people take bath to cure skin ailments. Places worth visiting here are the National Yak Research and Breeding Center at Nigmadung, Sheep Breeding Farm and the Sangti Valley where Siberian black necked storks visit during winter.

Monpa Constitute 5% of the total tribal communities throughout Arunachal Pradesh. Monpa tribes are said to be one of the primitive tribes of Tawang District and West Kameng District. The people of Monpa community are reckoned for their artistic creations that include beautiful Thangka painting, carpet making, weaving and wood carving. They are adept in making paper from Sukso tree.

Things to do around Dirang :

Village visit to Dirang Dzong. It is a old heritage village where one can see the fort used by the Monpas during past days.
Birding walk towards Mandala and Sangte Valley.

Sela Pass : Located at 45 kms from Dirang on the way to Tawang, is the world’s second highest motorable pass at 14000ft height with a high altitude serene crystal blue water natural lake.
