Manas National Park or Manas Wildlife Sanctuary is a wonderful landscape and one of the most popular tourist destinations in Assam. This spectacular wildlife habitat has been declared to be a Natural World Heritage Site by the UNESCO.

Manas National Park is situated at the foothills of the Himalayas in the state of Assam. The park is divided into two biomes – one is the Grassland Biome and the other is the Forest Biome.

The main attraction of this park is the beautiful river Manas, named after the serpent Goddess Manasa. The best time to visit is from October to April. Among Assam tourist destinations, Manas boasts of a rich wildlife, having a unique appeal for tourists from all over the world, and they come here to experience the jungle safari, which is one of the greatest attractions of the place. Elephant Safari and Jeep Safari are available at Bansbari that lets you have a closer look of the wildlife. One can also opt for River Rafting on a  rubber boat which commences its ride from Mothanguri and ends about 3. 5km away at Bispani, Visit to Bodo Village and Nature Walk is added attraction.

Manas National Park is home to the critically endangered Assam Roofed Turtle, Hispid Hare and Pygmy Hogand the largest population of Bengal Florican birds. Moreover, there are 50 species of reptiles, 3 species of amphibians, 55 species of mammals and 380 species of birds in this park. Various species of migratory birds and animals like Asian Golden Cat, Red-headed Trogon, Hoolock Gibbons, Golden Langur, Sambar Deer, Indian Rhinoceros, Slow Loris, Asiatic Wild Buffalo, Black-tailed Crake, Swamp Francolin, Oriental pied, Wreathed and Great Hornbills can be spotted very easily during the safari. The Eco-tourism Society in the National Park is famous for local handlooms and textile woven by the Bodo Tribe. These are permitted from sunrise to sunset from 9 to 12 in the morning and again from 2 to 5 in the evening.
