If you are a big tea buff, you've probably heard of Darjeeling. Well, you can start your journey with a tour of Darjeeling. The delicious food, friendly residents, and incredible views of Mount Kanchenjunga make it a popular tourists attraction.

You can reach Darjeeling by rail, road, and air. The title "Queen of Hills" goes well due to the beauty of this place. 

Day 1 - TRAVEL TO DARJEELING & OPTIONAL SIGHTSEEING

Observatory Hill and Mahakal Temple

Observatory Hill is located 2 kilometres from Darjeeling Himalayan Railway Station. It is a hilltop near Chowrasta Square in Darjeeling's lovely hill town. 

It is one of the most famous sights in Darjeeling. You can come here between the hours of 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. There is also no entry fee for tourists.

Lloyd's Botanical Garden

Lloyd's Botanical Garden is located in the heart of Darjeeling. The garden gets blanketed with flowers like Rhododendron, Geranium, Magnolia, and Cotoneaster during the spring season.  

Lloyd's Botanical Garden is a fantastic place for kids to learn about West Bengal's unique and exotic flora. You can come here between the hours of 6 a.m. and 5 p.m. The plus is entry is free for tourists.
You can take photos of various unique plants, trees, and flowers.

Chowrasta or Darjeeling's Mall

The Mall and Chowrasta give visitors a true feeling of Darjeeling. The Chowrasta, or Mall, is a large open area in the heart of town dotted with tiny shops offering souvenirs, woollens, tea packets, food, and other products. It is 1 kilometre from Darjeeling Himalayan Railway Station. 

Locals and visitors love to gather here to lounge and unwind. On a clear day, the Kanchenjunga can be seen in all its glory from here. You can come here between the hours of 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. There is also no entry fee for tourists. You will experience a sense of fresh vibes once you land in this place!

Day 2 - DARJEELING SIGHTSEEING

Tiger Hill Sunrise observatory

If you visit Darjeeling and do not go to the Tiger Hill Sunrise Observatory, your trip will be a waste of time. It is Darjeeling's highest point and one of the most beautiful sites to visit in the city. 

You can come here between 4 a.m. and 4 p.m. The entry charge for the Ground Floor is Rs. 20, Rs. 30 for the First Floor, and Rs. 40 for the Third Floor.

Old Ghoom Monastery

It is one of Darjeeling's oldest and most famous Tibetan Buddhist monasteries, as well as one of the city's must-see attractions. To tour the entire Monastery, plan on spending at least one to two hours. 

The entry is free, but you have to pay a nominal amount if you have a camera. You must pay rupees 50 if you wish to shoot a video inside. Visitors are welcome to tour the Monastery from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Batasia Loop

Darjeeling Himalayan Railways' Batasia Loop is a toy railway track. It is famous as the world's most beautiful railroad track. 

The loop is located on Hill Cart Road, also known as NH 55, outside Darjeeling. You can visit between the hours of 5 a.m. and 8 p.m. The entrance fee is Rs. 10 per person.

Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park

Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park is a zoo in the scenic hill town of Darjeeling, West Bengal, about 3 kilometres from Darjeeling Railway Station. Darjeeling Zoo is one of India's top zoo parks.

You can visit here between the hours of 8.30 a.m. and 4 p.m. It is closed on Thursday. The entrance fee is Rs 60 per person, with additional camera fees.

Happy Valley Tea Estate 

Happy Valley Tea Estate is a large tea farm in Darjeeling, West Bengal, located 2.5 kilometres from Darjeeling Railway Station. After Steinthal Tea Estate, Darjeeling's second oldest tea estate is one of the most popular destinations to visit for Darjeeling tourism. 

You can visit at 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. It is closed on Sunday & Monday. The entrance is free.

Peace Pagoda & Japanese temple 

Peace Pagoda is a famous Buddhist temple and Monastery located in Darjeeling. The serenity of Peace Pagoda will leave you speechless. 

It is a peaceful area where one can spend the entire day listening to monk's chant. The visiting times are 4 a.m. and 7 p.m. The entry is free.

Day 3 - TRAVEL TO GANGTOK & GANGTOK SIGHTSEEING

Rumtek Monastery

Rumtek Monastery is a stunning Buddhist gompa located near Gangtok, Sikkim's capital city, at a distance of 22 kilometres from Gangtok SNT Bus Station. 

It is one of Sikkim's most prominent monasteries and one of the most significant locations to visit in Gangtok. The hours of the visit are 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. The entrance fee is Rs. 10 per person.

Jawaharlal Nehru Botanical garden

It is a public garden in Gangtok, located 500 metres from Rumtek Monastery and 21 kilometres from Gangtok SNT Bus Station. It is one of Gangtok's most well-known tourist attractions, located adjacent to Rumtek Monastery. 

The hours of the visit are 8 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. The entrance charge for adults is Rs. 10, and for children, it is Rs. 5.

Day 4 - NATHULA PASS SIGHTSEEING

Kyongnosla Waterfall & Alpine Sanctuary

Kyongnosla Alpine Sanctuary, located 31 kilometres from Gangtok, is a wildlife sanctuary surrounding the area adjacent to Gangtok's Tsomgo Lake. 

It is the best spot to explore Gangtok tourism along Nathula Road. You can see the place between the hours of 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. The entry is free.

Changu lake 

Tsomgo Lake is a glacier lake in the East Sikkim district. Changu Lake, also known as Gangtok Lake, is one of the best places to visit in Gangtok and one of the most beautiful Himalayan lakes. 

You can see the place between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. The entry cost for the Cable Car is Rs. 295, the Yak Ride is Rs. 100, and the Permit is Rs. 200.

Nathula Pass

Nathula is a snow-covered mountain pass in the northeastern state of Sikkim, along the Indo-China border, approximately 17 kilometres from Tsomgo Lake and 54 kilometres from Gangtok. 

It is one of the fascinating sites to visit in Gangtok and among the top destinations to experience Sikkim tourism, located at the height of 14450 feet in the Himalayas. You can come here between the hours of 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. The entrance fee is Rs 200 per person. It remains closed on Monday and Tuesday.

Baba harbhajan Singh Temple

Baba Harbhajan Singh Temple is a sacred shrine in Gangtok, Sikkim, located 16 kilometres from Tsongmo Lake and 54 kilometres from Gangtok. It is among the oldest shrines in Sikkim and one of the most incredible locations to visit in Gangtok. 

It is located on the road to Nathula Pass. You can see the place between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. The entry is free.

DAY 5 - GANGTOK SIGHTSEEING & TRAVEL TO SILIGURI

Ranka Monastery

Ranka Monastery is a Buddhist monastery located at Ranka near Gangtok, Sikkim's capital city, at a distance of 8 kilometres from Banjhakri Falls and 16 kilometres from Gangtok. It is also known as Lingdum Monastery. 

It is one of Sikkim's most famous monasteries and one of Gangtok's must-see attractions. The visitors can visit between 6 a.m. and 5 p.m. The entry is free.
