Assam – The wildlife destination in India
Assam is a well-known wildlife tourist destination in North East India. The state includes many explored unexplored wildlife sanctuaries and national parks. Assam is well known for its two things, one being an excellent tea of the place and the other is wildlife tourism. Wildlife of Assam attracts a tourist from all the corners of the world. The state can be termed as the ultimate wildlife destination in India. Assam includes many wildlife attractions such as Kaziranga National park, Manas National Park, Dibru Saikhowa National Park, Orang National Park and Gibbon wildlife sanctuary.
From all of these Kaziranga is the most famous wildlife sanctuaries without saying. The park is spread over a large area of land and the most uncommon species found here is the one-horned rhino. Apart from rhinos, Kaziranga is home for Asiatic Elephants, tigers, Jackal, wild boars, barasingha, leopard cats, monitor lizard and many more. Kaziranga is also known for its beautiful birdlife. Birdlife includes a Fishing Eagle, oriental honey buzzard, Himalayan griffon and white-tailed Eagles. The best time to visit this place is from November to April.
Another National Park of Assam is Manas National Park. The Park is home for ample of Flora and Fauna. Among all the wildlife seen here are wild boar, hog deer, one-horned rhino and the sambar. Manas National park is also acclaimed to the world heritage site because of the unique biodiversity of the region. With forested slopes of Himalayas and river, Manas makes this place scenic wonder.
Orang National Park is attached to northern shores of Brahmaputra River. This national park has a stronghold on a one-horned rhino. The uniqueness of the park is that it houses more than 50 species and is also rich in fauna. Otters, hog deer, Indian civet, Bengal Porcupine, Indian pangolin. Birds like kingfishers, woodpeckers are a common sight.
The other popular wildlife attractions in Assam are the Saikhowa National Park and the Gibbon Wildlife Sanctuary. The Saikhowa National Park is an ideal place for species and has been declared as one of the biodiversity places in the world. The park has a huge collection of avifauna that includes both local as well as migratory birds. Many rare birds are being conserved here and the place is also a home for wild horses, elephants, and tigers. The Gibbon wildlife sanctuary has got its name from a non-human primate. The prime attraction of this park is the sighting of primates which can be very well sighted during the early morning. Different types of monkeys are also seen here along with wild pigs and leopards.
